Studio Policies & Procedures

MORALS AND CHARACTER

Parents and students are expected, at all time, to be supportive, respectful, and courteous to all students and their families as well as instructors.  Turning Pointe Co. will not tolerate any unmoral character and behavior, nor rudeness, jealousy, resentment, or disrespect to another student, their family, an instructor, etc.  This is grounds for immediate dismissal from the Turning Pointe Co.

CLASS TIME

Classes start promptly on time. Dancer should be ready with shoes on prior to entering their studio. No outside shoes on the dance floor. Only students allowed in their studio.

Turning Pointe Co. reserves the right to have students who repeatedly come to class late, sit out of class. Good attendance is imperative in having a productive class and entering class late is a disruption to the entire class and instructor. Competitive classes have a required attendance level to remain in competitive classes. Please see the Competitive Class information Sheet for required attendance.

CLASS ATTIRE

All required dance attire and shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear the appropriate dancewear to class could result in students being asked to sit out of class. Students are not permitted to wear shoes worn on the street or outdoors to any dance class. For safety reasons, dancers are not allowed to wear jewelry and hair must be securely pulled back. Please see the Turning Pointe Co Required Clothing List for your specific class attire and shoe requirements. Dance shoes are not allowed to be worn outside of the dance room.

TUITION

August tuition is prorated and due upon registration. Regular tuition rates will apply from September through May. Tuition rates and discounts are available to view on the tuition page of the website. Turning Pointe Co will review your online registration to ensure all applicable discounts and fees have been appropriately applied prior to processing your payment. If you have supplied an email address, you will receive an email notification any time your bank account or credit card is charged with the date and amount of the transaction. Summer class tuition is for 6 weeks and due at time of registration.

PAYMENT OF FEES AND NSF CHARGES

Tuition must be paid by automatic bank debit/check or automatic credit card payment. Tuition will be debited from your account between the 1st and the 5th day of each month, September-May. Tuition may also be paid in full per semester with a 5% discount by debit card, credit card or check. TPDOT accepts Visa, Discover, MasterCard only. Monthly tuition, Spring Performance Costume and Performance Fees will be automatically withdrawn from your account on the specified dates. TPDOT does not offer refunds for tuition paid monthly or semester in full. You authorize the school to electronically debit your bank account for an amount of any NSF paper checks or declined auto-debit transaction plus a $20 NSF fee.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS

There is a two month minimum for all classes. A twenty day notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the school office and not with an instructor. Withdrawal must occur within the first 10 days of the month. A withdrawal after the 10th of the month will be charged in full for the next month. No withdrawals will be accepted after March 1st. To withdraw from a class a parent or adult student must:

  1. Inform school administration
  2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the school office.

STUDIO AND CLASS CLOSINGS

If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather conditions or events beyond our control such as a power outage, there will not be any refunds issued. Turning Pointe Co. will close due to extreme weather when Bixby Public Schools close. Turning Pointe follows the Bixby Public Schools Calendar for closings and can be seen at www.bixbyps.org  If schools close or let out early due to bad weather we will not have class. Listen to radio station KRMG(740 AM) for announcements of school closings.

Turning Pointe Co. reserves the right to provide a substitute instructor if the regularly scheduled instructor is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. No tuition deductions or refunds for classes missed due to weather, illness or holidays. You may make up a class in comparable level.

PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR DANCER

It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all Turning Pointe Co. functions such as viewing days, performances, and dates the school is open or closed. Turning Pointe Co. will post all notices on the display board at the entrance to the studio and on our website www.turningpointedanceoftulsa.com. Keep up to date on Instagram and Facebook as well.

CARE OF STUDENTS / INJURIES

Turning Pointe Co. is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. Parents with children under the age of 6 must stay with the child until class begins and pick up the child inside the building when class is over. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class. Parents, legal guardians of minor students or adult students hereby waive the right to any legal action to any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted before, during or after class time.

CONDUCT

Conduct in class as well as in the waiting and dressing room is important. Please be respectful of your teachers and other students before, during, and after class. Students must listen to the teachers and follow directions. In the waiting and dressing areas it is important to remain quiet while waiting for class. These rules are in place so that students can learn without disruption and distraction.

Do NOT wear dance shoes from car into the studio. Dirt & gravel will ruin the floor.

Only Dance Shoes allowed in the Dance Room. No outside street shoes.

No food or drinks allowed inside studio. We have students and instructors with severe food allergies! Water bottles are encouraged. We provide a water fountain and hydration station.

No gum chewing allowed. No running or yelling at any time.  DO not stand on furniture.

We want to keep our business nice and with your help, it will stay nice and clean for you!

Parents and friends are not permitted to stay and watch classes. We have found that doing this minimizes distractions and puts less pressure on the dancers. We have ensured adequate supervision for every class and parents may wait in the lobby where there is a TV with live feed from the dance rooms. We also have an observation week before our Christmas break where parents will be invited to watch classes.

OBSERVATION WEEK(S)

Observation Week is the week(s) when family and friends are permitted to observe class inside the studio. We provide this opportunity for parents so they can observe the growth of the dancers, and to experience the class from the “inside”. It is a great time to take photographs and video. Please note that some dancers might become shy when there is an audience in the room. Let them know ahead of the class time that ‘mommies and daddies’ will be watching.

PERFORMANCES

In Studio Christmas Dance Class Performance is the last week of December classes.

Spring Performance is usually late May/early June. Mandatory Dress Rehearsal the day before the Performance. A Non-Refundable Performance Fee of $100 due March 1; covers rental of Performing Arts Center, Technical Staff, Tickets to the Performance, Printed Programs, Professional Video, T-shirt and Trophy.

COSTUMES

A Non-Refundable Costume Payment of $75, per class enrolled, is due November 1.

If you are enrolled in 2 classes it will be $75 x 2.  Costumes will be ordered in November. We cannot under any circumstances, refund money for costumes once they are ordered.
